Candidates, well, Democratic ones anyway, send emails to everyone in the party, no matter whether they are supporters or not. Clearly, Terry McAuliffe is no different. On with the comments I will make about the latest from the ‘macker’ himself.
We’ll start at the beginning.
Mark,
This campaign has really been extraordinary. Everywhere I travel in the Commonwealth, I meet folks who are have just gotten engaged in the political process, and they’re eager to get our economy moving again. Every step of the way, you have been there to help. You helped us beat our fundraising goals for April, and I can’t thank you enough.
“…who are have just gotten engaged…” Wow, you would think for 5 million dollars, you could find someone who could edit or write copy for you. By the way, I didn’t just become involved in the political process. I am a past chair in my county, a past member of the 5th Congressional District Committee, and first started getting involved in 1984 in activist politics.
I haven’t been there to help every step of the way. In fact, I have been looking into your record and finding that you are the last person I would vote for, for anything. I didn’t help you reach your fundraising goals, I haven’t contributed a dime to your narcissistic joyride. Don’t thank me, I can’t stand you.
I’m always energized by the outpouring of grassroots support from all across Virginia, and we put together a photo album from some of my recent events so you can see what we’ve been up to.
I am energized when I think of all the efforts there are to make sure you never get anywhere near the Governor’s office.
In short, I am not interested in your campaign’s successs, but keep sending those funny and sad emails, they are great for comic relief.

Ha! Good post, Mark.
Very funny…except this is the campaign putting out position papers, hiring staff, attending meetings and holding events…in short…campaigning.
Not the campaign of the negative and condescending.
I have all of the ribbons on my political resume also Mark, except I have been using that experience out canvassing and phone banking, not online making an ass of myself.
Vivian – your just as bad.
Bill,
Have we met?
Are you claiming that none of the other Governor’s campaigns have issued position papers, hired staff, attended meetings or held events?
That would certainly be a disingenuous claim, since we both know it isn’t true.
I don’t work for a ‘campaign’. I work for myself. That makes me feel better, because when I was chairing, going to meetings, canvassing, etc, I didn’t take the gloves off. I didn’t get to complain at this level. I kept it to myself mostly.
Do you work on the staff of McAuliffe? Which committee did you chair? I have been forthcoming with my experience, and you have treated yours as an afterthought.
I guess since you do not know me, you wouldn’t know what I do in my community either. I wouldn’t expect you to. Just like I wouldn’t expect you to throw up a bunch of weasel words talking about whom I assume your candidate is. I wouldn’t expect you to tell me on my own blog that I make an ass of myself.
Do you think the open government articles I write are stupid too? How about immigration reform? Private prisons? No?
Talk to me here all you want, but you better bring a different variety of discourse when you come back, because I think you sound very defensive. And that does not bode well for your candidate.
[...] (If it is genuine and not a gimmick) [...]
I’m not defensive at all – and I find it laughable that the first line of attack for non-Terry supporters is that everyone must be paid by Terry. Here in Central Virginia I have seen more Terry volunteers than any other campaign since February.
That’s why Terry had his petitions done first – and we didn’t pay any non-staff to collect them either – which I believe every other campaign did.
Mr. Brooks – it’s your weasel words I have see all over the blogosphere – so I am more than happy to come over here and call you on it.
You continually attack a very good Democratic working very hard to win the nomination and I am getting sick of it.
I have been calling out these Brian supports since the beginning of the campaign – you can call Marjorie Clark, 7th district chair as she is one I have talked to.
It’s put up or shut up time.
Bill
What’s a Brian supports?
So, TM is running a campaign, but then so are Brian Moran and Creigh Deeds. However, the difference is that they have been elected to office before. What elected office has Terry ever held besides chair of the DNC? Does he have executive office experience at ANY level–local, regional, or state?
To be honest, I’ve lived here in Virginia for well over 20 years and never heard anything about him until he was DNC chair and a close friend of the Clintons.
Since you feel that he is above reproach, perhaps I too should start digging around more in his closet. There’s always a skeleton hiding around somewhere. Perhaps I should start with Harken Energy–I’m sure that’s a story waiting to be told.
supporter.
Am I supposed to show you some kind of respect here after you like to make these snide comments that everyone who supports Terry must be getting paid.
Funny but it seems to me all those donations UNDER $100 suggest a LOT of support.
I honestly don’t care what you do in your community if you want to act like an ass online.
I didn’t come over to the 5th and insult your work and the candidate you support. I called you out on the blog I am reading here in Central VA.
If you can’t take the heat defending your stupid comments, shut up and go outside and campaign.
If Brian was so good at working in the House, maybe he should have stayed there his entire term and tried a little harder to get more House Democrats elected? All I see is a coup to displace the majority leader and barely being able to help the party retain his seat.
Did I hear Harken Energy?? Someone has already started investigating this story. Check out this link http://whowhatwhy.com/2007/10/18/hillarys-bush-connection/
Russ Baker, investigative journalist and author of Bush Family Secrets has co-written a must see article on the links between a Saudi financier and George W. Bush….and then this same Saudi Financier and Terry McCauliffe and the Clintons.
A must read for all Virginians contemplating who should be our next governor.
buzz….buzz….
Very cool mosquito, thanks.
The Nation in 2007 had a great article as well.
Bill, do you have a point? Or is it just that your feelings are hurt?

Terry McAuliffe will tell you he had nothing to do with Global Crossing, but as this video shows, he was able to use his access to sell Global Crossing on funding Telergy for $40 million. Terry McAuliffe shared office space with the CEO of Global Crossing, and sat on the Board of Directors for Telergy. McAuliffe made out with $1.2M from Telegy for Securing the Global Crossing loan, and sold his Global Crossing stock that he purchased for $100K, for $18M.
Soon after McAuliffe sold out, both Global Crossing and Telergy went bankrupt, with thousands of workers losing their jobs and pensions.
Terry McAuliffe took the combined $20 million and never looked back.
Does Virginia need that type of business leadership in a Governor? Nope.
