We have had a steady stream of tomatoes from our garden, from July until right now. I have picked around 7-8 dozen tomatoes just since this weekend. The plants have been loaded down, but with the reduced light and the lower temperatures at night, they just don’t get ripe like they do in July, August, and early September.
We have canned a lot of tomatoes, and also pickled pepper strips for sandwiches. The bell peppers are also seriously still kicking butt.
I get sentimental about the garden this time of year. It takes a lot of work to get it going, probably a month of work part-time. I know we have had good results this year, so I am not sad to see the work go, but the production of great food.
